5 Olympic Snowboarders Share Their Beauty and Fitness Secrets,

“Snowboarding requires lower-body strength,” says Chloe Kim, who does goblet squats (traditional squats using dumbbells held vertically near the navel) with increasing weight to strengthen glutes, hamstrings, and quads. For Aimee Fuller and Jamie Anderson, yoga complements their on-snow training by activating core muscles and stabilizing ankle and knee muscles. “We do lots of rails and crazy tricks—you need to feel good in your center of gravity,” says Anderson, a headstand and handstand pro, of their five-hour slope sessions.

In the past decade, tech innovations have transformed rehab and training. For quick recoveries, Kim swears by NormaTec’s inflatable leg sleeves (a favorite of LeBron James and Simone Biles), which increase blood flow via massagelike pulses up and down the leg. Julia Marino, meanwhile, has traded trampolines for training on the AirBag: 200-plus feet of slope-shaped bouncy houses, ideal for practicing flips and kicks.

Beyond foam rollers and ice baths, some athletes turn to natural topicals to soothe sore muscles. Marino opts for the plant-based, anti-inflammatory Arnicare gel, while Amy Purdy, a former aesthetician, uses dōTERRA Deep Blue, a roll-on medley of essential oils like wintergreen, camphor, and ylang-ylang. “It’s a ritual after my nightly bath,” she says.
